New Love

An attempt at a sonnet from a less cynical and shinier time  - the 1980's...

Remember a rainy September clear night,

When we talked so long and felt oh so right?
Playing mind games in a new lovers dream,
The fates had conspired and we got the cream.
Remember a snowy December wet day,
When we chose our paths and they went the same way?
Where love is the answer to all of our prayers,
And life is all promise with none of its cares.

I lie here awake and think only of you,
With a warm, warm love that feels oh so new.
Oh give me the morning, I'll show you the sun,
I'll show you a World where new hope has begun.
We'll run free together and share what we've found,
Two souls in one spirit together are bound
